The story of one house
They worked exactly in this sequence - first the decoration, and then the installation of windows. A significant advantage of this approach is that we get the maximum tightness of connections, break cold bridges and install windows already after finishing the facade, screeds and plaster.
Thanks to the project, we provided in advance the necessary materials for finishing the facade, all the nodes and connections.
The walls and plinth were partially decorated with tiles, partially painted or applied a decorative coating.
If you take a thermal imager and inspect the building in winter, you will see that the main heat loss occurs through the foundation, around the windows and under the roof. We will remind you that we solved the issue of connecting the roof to the house with the help of foam (see the stage "Installation of the roof").
As for the windows, we implemented warm installation. Under each window, which starts from the floor, we mounted plinths. They break the bridge of cold and make it possible to arrange floor screeds before installing windows.
We glued waterproofing tape on the inside of the windows, and UV-resistant psul was glued on the outside.
The windows were made of plastic, but of the top series. The thickness of the profile is 88 mm, the double-glazed window is 52 mm, the film is laminated on both sides (dark and light), and the frame of the double-glazed window is black. In this decoration, the windows look expensive: stylish and attractive.
Mangal. We have organized a spacious area of the barbecue area. It actually consists of a barbecue and a wood-burning stove. All surfaces are tiled.
Pergola. For the construction of the pergola, larch beams and monolithic polycarbonate with a thickness of 4 mm were used.
Canopy for cars. We implemented the lining of the carport with the help of OSB boards and painted it in the color of the facade. In our opinion, we wrote why a carport is more appropriate than a garage in the section "Construction project of a house".
Balconies. We are not supporters of designing balconies in private houses. However, in this project, the small balcony was created to increase the area of the boiler room, and the large one is essentially a roof over the barbecue area.
Paving tiles with a thickness of 20 mm were laid on the small balcony. The large balcony was waterproofed with a membrane and a terrace board was installed.
When it comes to covering the street, preference should be given to "floating" materials, namely: terrace board, cobblestones, or pavement tiles with a thickness of 20 mm. It is possible to put your chosen material on small crushed stone or supports. Moreover, small crushed stone will be a significantly cheaper solution. We chose it when laying tiles on the terrace.
The canopy in front of the entrance door was waterproofed. A canopy was added to the back of the house, which also covers the place where firewood is stored. This decision arose during the work and was not foreseen by the project.
We started the organization of landscaping at the initial stages of construction. First, they brought order to the green zone. Next, the site was marked out, irrigation pipes were laid, curbs were installed, and land planning was carried out. After that, we covered the area where paving stones were supposed to be covered with coarse crushed stone. In this way, firstly, we got rid of the swamp under our feet, and secondly, during the winter, the crushed stone was well compacted, so later we avoided subsidence of the cobblestones.
Standard powder-coated electric panels rust quite quickly, so we made a custom-made stainless steel panel, which we think is a very practical solution.
Pavers selected according to the project were installed. 0.6 mm thick sheet metal with two-sided painting was used for cladding the fence. Please note that the front part of the fence is made in the form of blinds, and the side parts in the form of picket fences. But there is one nuance. Our site has a slope of 4 cm per 1 m, but the side parts of the fence are made without steps. We believe that this is a very good decision.
Trees and flowers were planted, the lawn was rolled out.
A frame pool was installed (not an ideal option, but it has the right to life). Placed a playground.
They came up with a booth for the generator and chopped firewood.
Now we have completed a huge part of the implementation of the project. However, an equally important stage ahead is interior decoration.
Interior decoration is a large and important volume of work, during which both the customer and the contractor must understand each other well and have a common vision of the future result. Because of this, we strongly recommend taking an active part in the development of the interior design project.
Always keep in focus the thought that it is you who will live in this house, in this space and in this interior. Help the designer get used to the project: share your vision with the specialist, choose interiors for him that inspire you.
Work through every detail with the designer and only after all the solutions and visualizations will suit you, start work.
In our project, we adhered to the "minimalism" style, but in our own, "branded" version.
Installations were installed, floor and wall heating was installed. In our case, thanks to the geothermal pump, we implemented a low-temperature heating system.
The average temperature of the heat carrier in the system during the heating season is 24-25 С˚, while the air temperature in the room is 22-23 С˚.
In the cooling mode, the temperature in the system is 18-19 С˚, and the air in the house is 23-25 С˚. Of course, it is possible to set the system to a different temperature regime, but the above-mentioned indicators are quite comfortable for the whole family.
Regarding expenses. The power of the heat pump is 14 kW. Annual electricity consumption on average is 6,000 kWh. This is heating, cooling and water heating for two separate buildings with a total area of 260 m2).
Conducted electrical and low-current networks. We would like to emphasize that with the help of the security alarm center we managed to implement a large part of the elements of a smart house, in particular: remote opening of the gate, remote and timer switching on of lights, flood sensors, timer and remote switching on of the deep pump, timer and remote switching on of lawn watering, switching on of the boiler and techniques and other things.
